Powerlifting apps for self-coached lifters: Momentum, Boostcamp, JuggernautAI and Liftosaur
Momentum Coach ·
The best powerlifting app for a self-coached lifter depends on how much you want to decide: follow a published program, receive a proposed plan or write your own progression rules. Start there, then check the logging workflow against a full session.
Momentum's team publishes this comparison. It reviews public information; it is not an outcomes trial or a hands-on test of every app. We do not assign effectiveness scores. Sources and prices checked on 22 September 2026.
Quick comparison
| App | Advertised approach | Potential fit |
|---|---|---|
| Momentum | Blocks, logging and history with Coachy assistance | Direct your training with support in English, Spanish or Portuguese |
| Boostcamp | Program library, logging, progression and AI builder | Choose a published plan or build one |
| JuggernautAI | Powerlifting/powerbuilding programming responsive to feedback and meet dates | Receive a proposed structure for your goal |
| Liftosaur | Program editor with progression rules through Liftoscript | Specify and automate your own rules |
Different approaches do not establish which app will produce a bigger total. “AI” alone does not explain what changes, using which information or within what limits.

A practical selection test
Use the same sample session in your shortlisted apps: for example, squat 3 × 5 at RPE 7 and bench 3 × 6 at RPE 7. You do not have to perform the workout repeatedly; check how you would configure and log it.
- Plan: can you specify your variation, sets, reps and target effort?
- Log: can you easily record actual work, including a skipped set?
- Change: if the first set reaches RPE 9, can you understand and review the proposed response?
- History: can you compare exposures without confusing different variations?
- Schedule: what happens when you miss a day or move from four days to three?
- Continuity: check data export, history access and what the free tier retains. We have not verified these capabilities across every app.
If software forces you to change training simply to represent the block, include that cost in your decision. If you are unsure what to record, start with our self-coached guide.
When Momentum fits
Momentum is built for powerlifters who direct their training and want planning, sessions and review together. Coachy assists with interpretation and possible adjustments; its answers need your judgment. It does not replace individual technical supervision.
It may suit you if working in your language and reviewing the block alongside history matter. If you already understand your program and consistently use a spreadsheet, switching tools is optional.

Frequently asked questions
Must I pay for an app to progress?
No. Appropriate training, consistency and review matter. Paid software may save administrative work, but it cannot guarantee outcomes.
Which app replaces a coach?
None of these apps alone is equivalent to a professional observing and following your situation. Choose software for the tasks it helps with.
What if I already have a program?
First check that you can represent it and log deviations. Program libraries or generation may matter less than control of your record.
